A 36-year-old man died on 17 October in Mazabuka, in Zambia’s Southern Province, after being seriously burned by his 15-year-old sister with boiling water, Lusaka Times reports. The victim, from Plan 2000 Compound, had been in hospital since the incident on 11 October.

According to Moono Namalongo, the Southern Province police commanding officer, the man, who was drunk, allegedly insulted his sister and tried to assault their 60-year-old mother. The girl allegedly then took a pot of boiling water placed on a brazier and poured it over him.
