The tanker Kriti Jade has begun loading between 320,000 and 330,000 barrels of crude from the Sèmè field in Benin on behalf of Shell, Matin Libre reports. The vessel arrived at the anchorage of the port of Cotonou on 31 October 2026 and is receiving the cargo from the Kristina floating storage and offloading unit.
The volume exceeds the 250,000 barrels initially planned. Once loading is complete, the oil is to be transported to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to supply Shell’s refineries. The Sèmè field, operated by Akrake Petroleum Bénin with the Beninese state, produces about 3,000 barrels per day, according to Matin Libre.
The operation follows preparations for the first Beninese cargo of 250,000 barrels, announced on 22 September. On 30 October, Benin was also the subject of an article about the shipment of 330,000 barrels to the Netherlands.
