Abena Ampomaa, from Adumang in the Ashanti Region, admitted that two of the three children raised by her husband Shaibu Mohammed may not be his biological children. She apologised to him on a television programme, explaining that she had concealed their paternity for years out of fear of his reaction.

Abena Ampomaa, a resident of Adumang in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, apologised to her husband Shaibu Mohammed after revealing that two of their three children were not biologically his. She made the confession during a television programme on 20 October 2026, according to the Zambian Observer.

Abena Ampomaa explained that she had had extramarital relations with two men during her 14-year marriage. One of the pregnancies allegedly occurred before the marriage, but she says she only discovered this after the ceremony. The other allegedly followed marital difficulties and a lack of financial support from her husband. The two children concerned are now 14 and 11.

The mother said she had concealed their parentage for a long time for fear of her husband’s reaction, before deciding to tell him everything. She claims that Shaibu Mohammed threatened to stop supporting the children and to prevent their biological fathers from helping them. According to her, he cited the roughly 12 years during which he had raised them to announce that he would no longer support them for an equivalent period.

Abena Ampomaa also claims that her husband threatened to harm people who sought to help her, including the men she identifies as the biological fathers. She also said that he had threatened her father, who died about two weeks before her testimony.
