The National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo adopted at second reading, on Monday 19 October, a bill ratifying additional funding of 150 million dollars for the regional REPAIR project for emergency preparedness and inclusive recovery, reports Deskeco. The funding was granted by the International Development Association (IDA), a World Bank institution, under an agreement signed on 13 July 2026.
The project is intended to strengthen the DR Congo’s financial and institutional capacity to mobilise resources quickly in the event of a natural disaster or other eligible shocks. It also aims to improve the response of institutions and support the recovery of affected communities.
The bill was one of four ratification bills adopted during the sitting, with 334 votes in favour, one against and none abstaining. It still has to be reconciled with the version adopted by the Senate.
The ratification follows the DR Congo’s approval on 11 October of disaster funding of up to 500 million dollars.
