The judicial case against Denise Mukendi, also known as Dusauchoy, remains in its pre-trial investigation phase and the Congolese TikToker has not yet been brought before her natural judge. State Minister for Justice and Keeper of the Seals Guillaume Ngefa said this at a press briefing held on Thursday, 22 October, according to Actualité.cd.
The minister said Denise Mukendi benefits from the presumption of innocence and that her rights are guaranteed throughout the proceedings. Arrested in late August in Tanzania and then extradited to Kinshasa, she is facing proceedings launched by the Congolese judicial authorities in several criminal cases, according to the Justice Ministry, cited by Actualité.cd.
A former candidate in the December 2023 legislative elections in Kasai province, Denise Mukendi went into exile in Belgium in mid-2024. She subsequently broadcast statements hostile to President Félix Tshisekedi and members of the government, before being shown in Goma, a city in North Kivu controlled by the AFC/M23, and then in Kigali.
