A truck carrying agricultural workers skidded and then hit another vehicle on the road between Bou Salem and Jendouba, injuring 11 workers and a driver. The Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights has recorded 19 accidents and nearly 190 injuries since 2024, despite the decree adopted that year.
A road accident injured eleven agricultural workers and a driver on Wednesday 28 October in Tunisia’s Jendouba governorate, according to the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights (FTDES). The truck carrying the workers to their fields skidded before colliding with another truck on regional road No. 59 between Bou Salem and Jendouba, via Bulla Regia.
Several of the injured workers remained at Jendouba University Hospital for treatment. The FTDES says 19 accidents involving agricultural workers have been recorded since Decree No. 4 of 2024 was published, causing 10 deaths and nearly 190 injuries.
The organisation is calling for a serious and transparent investigation, full coverage of medical treatment and compensation for the victims and their families. It is also demanding the immediate implementation of commitments made to improve the safety of agricultural workers’ transport, after a previous accident near Jendouba injured 14 people, including 12 agricultural workers, on 28 October.
