The World Food Programme has handed over seven motorbikes to staff of Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Agriculture in Pujehun District to help monitor agricultural projects. The donation is part of an EU-supported project and aims to improve teams’ access to implementation sites, according to the World Food Programme.
The World Food Programme (WFP) handed over seven new motorbikes to staff of Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security in Pujehun District. The vehicles are intended to improve their mobility in monitoring activities under the EU-supported Saving project, according to Sierraloaded.
The handover took place on Friday 16 October at the ministry’s local office. Christopher Norman, the WFP’s head in Pujehun, asked recipients to use the motorbikes exclusively for work and maintain them. Lucy Koker, the district agriculture officer, said agricultural extension officers would be responsible for their management and maintenance, reports Sierraloaded.
The WFP has supported the ministry’s activities for nine years. Christopher Norman described the motorbikes as tools to help staff reach project implementation sites and strengthen the monitoring of agricultural services in the district.
