SpaceX posts $4.4 billion quarterly profit

SpaceX posted net profit of $4.4 billion in the third quarter, compared with a loss of $1.1 billion a year earlier, while revenue rose 161% to $14.6 billion. Growth in its artificial intelligence business, driven by cloud services, contributed to the performance, according to the company’s financial results.

SpaceX posted net profit of $4.4 billion in the third quarter of 2026, compared with a loss of $1.1 billion a year earlier, according to results published on Tuesday by the US aerospace and artificial intelligence company. Its revenue rose 161% year on year to $14.6 billion.

The artificial intelligence business, called Super Intelligence by SpaceX, generated $7.6 billion in revenue, more than nine times its figure the previous year. It thus overtook Starlink, the satellite internet service, whose sales rose 69% to $5.2 billion. Starlink had 13.6 million individual subscribers, but average monthly revenue per customer fell to $69, from $83 a year earlier.

SpaceX attributed the growth of its AI business to new cloud-services contracts, increased adoption of its Grok assistant and the acquisition of Cursor, a start-up specialising in AI programming tools. Anthropic committed in May to paying nearly $45 billion over three years to use the computing power of SpaceX’s Colossus data centres. Google signed a contract in June providing for monthly payments of $920 million from October 2026 to June 2029.

The company invested $19.6 billion during the quarter, including $16.4 billion in AI. Its capital expenditure reached $48 billion in the first nine months of 2026. SpaceX also carried out Starship’s first commercial flight, the giant rocket intended in particular for deploying satellites. The results were announced after SpaceX entered the Nasdaq on 12 June, following an initial public offering that raised about $85.7 billion.
