Oil tanker arrival delayed again in São Tomé and Príncipe

Economy and Finance Minister Gareth Guadalupe has announced a further delay to the oil tanker’s arrival, now expected next week after loading in Lomé and Cotonou. The fuel it is carrying is intended to meet national needs for several months and prevent further shortages, Telanon reports.

The fuel crisis in São Tomé and Príncipe will last beyond the government’s forecasts, with the oil tanker now expected to arrive next week. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Gareth Guadalupe, confirmed the latest delay, Telanon reports. The shortage is affecting supplies of petrol and kerosene, as recalled in the shortage of petrol and kerosene in São Tomé and Príncipe.

The vessel must first complete loading diesel in Lomé, Togo, while petrol has already been loaded there. It will then travel to Cotonou, Benin, to load aviation fuel, which will also be used as kerosene, as well as the product intended for domestic consumption, Gareth Guadalupe explained, according to Telanon.
