The Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL) has appointed an eight-member committee to prepare for its Extraordinary Congress in November and Elective Congress in December 2026, the organisation announced. The committee will be chaired by Momoh B. Siryon, a former SWAL treasurer, with Samuel David of the Commission for Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement as vice-chairman. Varflay Kamara, director of communications at the National Public Service Agency, will serve as secretary-general, according to FrontPage Africa.

The Extraordinary Congress will examine the SWAL Constitution, possible amendments, and policy and operational issues. The Elective Congress will review the management’s financial and narrative reports for the past three years and organise the transition to a new leadership team, SWAL president Varmah Kamara said.

The committee is notably responsible for preparing the agendas and documents, mobilising members and resources, organising logistics and communications, and producing reports after the congresses. The SWAL Constitution provides for an elective congress every three years, during the second week of December, according to Varmah Kamara.
