Liberian economist Samuel Jackson has asked Onesimus Barwon, judge of Monrovia’s Criminal Court “A”, for permission to leave Liberia temporarily to receive specialised medical treatment abroad, reports FrontPage Africa. He remains subject to a travel ban as his health is said to have deteriorated.
Samuel Jackson, who is also a political commentator, was seen struggling to walk on Thursday 22 October 2026 on the grounds of the Temple of Justice in Monrovia, assisted by two men. He is being prosecuted in an investigation into the death of his wife, South African lawyer Ntombi Khumalo Jackson, who was found dead in their bedroom in March 2026.
Jackson told the authorities that he discovered his wife semi-conscious after returning from a television programme. Ntombi Khumalo Jackson, founder of NK Attorneys, died after serious head injuries that required emergency surgery, according to FrontPage Africa. Images purportedly showing bruises and injuries subsequently circulated on social media.
