IMF warns of risks from an artificial intelligence correction

The International Monetary Fund warns of a possible correction in artificial intelligence-related assets, a sharp rise in bond yields or a major cyberattack. These shocks could become systemic if they amplify existing financial market vulnerabilities, according to its Global Financial Stability Report, cited by Club of Mozambique.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is warning that a market correction linked to artificial intelligence could become systemic if amplified by existing financial vulnerabilities. The institution is calling, in particular, for tighter restrictions on excessive borrowing to finance investment in artificial intelligence, according to Reuters.
Rising energy prices and fiscal strains have also increased pressure on governments’ borrowing costs. These risks were discussed on Tuesday 13 October at a press briefing during the IMF Annual Meetings and World Bank meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.
