After the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London, England striker Harry Kane celebrated his award in a nightclub where bottles fitted with pyrotechnic devices appear in videos. The images reminded internet users of the fire at the Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, which claimed 41 victims on New Year’s Eve, according to L’essentiel.
Videos showing Harry Kane, Bayern Munich striker and England captain, dancing with bottles fitted with pyrotechnic devices at Cirque le Soir in London have revived concerns linked to the deadly fire in Crans-Montana. The images were broadcast after he celebrated being named the world’s best footballer, according to L’essentiel.
Internet users denounced the use of flares in a nightclub on X and Instagram, saying that the Swiss tragedy should have led to such practices being banned. The fire at the Le Constellation bar, which occurred on New Year’s Eve in Crans-Montana, claimed 41 victims, according to L’essentiel.
Cirque le Soir, a basement club in the Soho district, notably organises shows featuring fire performers. Its ceiling is reportedly not covered with inflammable materials, but the videos do not make it possible to assess the risks or verify compliance with safety rules, reports L’essentiel.
The evening followed Harry Kane’s crowning in London on 26 October. The striker had already won the men’s top scorer award at the Ballon d’Or on the same day, after being named 2026 Ballon d’Or winner ahead of Kylian Mbappé.
