The Botswana Housing Corporation posted a net profit of 49.6 million pula for the year ended 31 March 2026, against a loss of 104.6 million a year earlier. The recovery was driven in part by 95.6 million pula from property sales, while revenue fell by 42%, Weekendpost reports.

The Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC), Botswana’s state-owned property company, posted a net profit of 49.6 million pula (P) for the financial year ended 31 March 2026, compared with a loss of 104.6 million a year earlier. The 154.2 million pula turnaround was announced by the board on 14 October, Weekendpost reports.

The performance, however, was largely driven by exceptional items. BHC recorded gains of 95.6 million pula from the sale of investment properties and sharply reduced its impairment charges. Without these disposals, the company would have reported an operating loss of about 67.6 million pula, according to Weekendpost.

At the same time, its revenue and rental income fell by 42.2% to 427.5 million pula, from 739.5 million in 2025. Rental income declined from 392.2 million to 279.1 million pula, while income from construction and management contracts fell from 336.8 million to 141.7 million. Home sales brought in only 6.7 million pula. Total assets rose to 2.688 billion pula, while cash fell by 24% to 354.5 million.
