Djibouti’s National Cybersecurity Authority (ANC) held an awareness session on cyber threats for families in Kartileh at the neighbourhood’s Community Development Centre. Discussions covered online risks and ways to prevent online scams, cyberbullying and digital blackmail, according to Radio Television of Djibouti.
Djiboutian MP Mahamoud Moustapha Daher took part in the meeting and stressed the need for vigilance on social media, particularly to protect children. He urged parents to guide young people’s use of digital technologies and institutions and citizens to mobilise against online threats.
The session encouraged dialogue with residents, who asked questions and discussed the effects of social media’s growing role in relationships between parents and children. The ANC carries out local outreach in neighbourhoods to promote preventive behaviour. It had already held an awareness session against cyberviolence in Boulaos on 18 October, as part of its campaign against cyberviolence.
