Tunisia’s under-15 team beat Thailand 5-0 in Baku on Wednesday to qualify for the quarter-finals of the U15 World Cup, being held in Azerbaijan, La Presse de Tunisie reports.
Earlier in the day, the Carthage Eagles had eliminated Namibia 4-0 in the round of 32. In the first round, Tunisia finished third in Group D, behind Brazil and El Salvador, with three wins and two defeats.
This first edition brings together nearly 190 countries, initially divided into 32 groups. Matches are played eight-a-side and last two 20-minute halves. The tournament aims to give each team at least nine international matches: the nations are then divided into six tiers, from A to F, with one winner in each tier. Only the team that wins Tier A is crowned U15 world champion.
