The ELMED Tunisia-Italy power line project has secured more than 1,355.7 million euros in funding for a 49-kilometre link in Tunisia. The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company is overseeing the project, whose resettlement plan was reviewed in Zaghouan, according to Lapresse.

Funding for the electricity link between Tunisia and Italy has reached 1,355.7 million euros. The project is financed through European Union grants, loans and self-financing contributions from Tunisia and Italy, Lapresse reports.

The double electricity line will extend for 49 kilometres and cross four Tunisian governorates, including around four kilometres in Zaghouan governorate. With a voltage of 400 kilovolts, it will connect the Grombalia 2 and Mornaguia stations. The project’s progress and the preparation of its resettlement action plan were reviewed at a meeting in Zaghouan governorate, according to Lapresse.

The link is part of projects to develop electricity exchanges between Tunisia and Europe. The Tunisian STEG, the state-owned electricity and gas company, is among the players in Tunisia’s energy sector.
