Residents of Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa, are questioning the 2.4 million rand spent on renovation work on Wylde Bridge, which links Amsterdamhoek and Swartkops, reports Daily Maverick. Francis Jeffrey and Eileen Leander say the work was haphazard and insufficient to protect the structure.

The municipality has taken steps to divert heavy vehicles and vehicles prohibited from using the bridge, the newspaper reports.
