A court in Muhanga, Rwanda, has ordered the pre-trial detention for 30 days of Habyarimana Daniel, the district education officer, and several school staff members. They face charges including disclosure of professional secrets, abuse of power and falsification of documents, according to Umuseke.
The Nyamabuye Primary Court has ordered the pre-trial detention for 30 days of Habyarimana Daniel, Muhanga district education officer, and several teachers, Umuseke reports. The decision, issued on Thursday 15 October 2026, also concerns Manishimwe Alphonsine, Semana Anicet, Mushimiyimana Théoneste and Ufitineza Védaste, teachers at Saint-Jean Secondary School, as well as the head of GS Cyiciro school.
The court upheld the prosecution’s request and found that there were serious grounds to justify detention. Those concerned will therefore remain in custody for one month, pending further proceedings.
