More than 100 exhibitors from around 20 countries are taking part in the first Africa Amusement & Attractions Expo, which opened in Rabat on Wednesday. The four-day leisure and attractions trade fair is expected to draw more than 10,000 professional visitors, according to the Angolan News Agency (ANG).
Organised by Webloo and TLS Groupe with the support of the Moroccan Agency for Tourism Development, the event aims to encourage investment and partnerships among African operators, manufacturers and business decision-makers. It also seeks to help build a structured leisure industry across the continent and create infrastructure suited to visitors expected for the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
Imad Barrakad, chief executive of the Moroccan Agency for Tourism Development, said the sector could generate up to three jobs for every million dirhams invested. He also described leisure facilities as a factor in tourists’ choice of destination and in diversifying Morocco’s tourism offer, as the country pursues its goal of welcoming 26 million tourists by 2030.
