Mauritius maintains curfew this weekend and announces 16 arrests

Mauritian Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam announced that the curfew would remain in place over the weekend, from 10pm to 4.30am, and said its continuation would be reassessed on Monday. He also reported 16 arrests on Thursday night, according to Defimedia, as the government says it wants to avoid any risk to the population.

Mauritius will maintain the curfew on Friday night and over the weekend, with it starting at 10pm instead of 8.30pm on previous nights. Sixteen people were also arrested, reports Defimedia.

Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam announced that an assessment would be carried out on Monday before any decision on maintaining the measures. The assessment will take account of how the situation develops over the weekend, according to Defimedia.
