Lutundula’s ADP calls for sanctions against Kabila

The Alliance of Democrats for Progress, led by Christophe Lutundula, condemns Joseph Kabila’s creation of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation and calls for tougher international sanctions against the former president and his allies. In a statement read in Kinshasa on 18 October, the party accuses Kabila of fuelling the crisis in the country’s east.

The Alliance of Democrats for Progress (ADP), a party led by Christophe Lutundula Apala Pen’Apala, is calling for sanctions against former Congolese president Joseph Kabila, whom it accuses of seeking to destabilise institutions and return to power by force. The call was made in a political statement read out in Kinshasa on Sunday 18 October by John Mbombo, the party’s secretary, according to Actualité.cd.

The ADP believes the transformation of the AFC/M23 into the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN), a new politico-military movement launched and led by Joseph Kabila, confirms its accusations. The party said it had received this development “without surprise”, according to the same statement.
