Kenyan President William Ruto inaugurated the Ziwa 2 earth dam irrigation project in Uasin Gishu County. The development is expected to irrigate 500 acres and support 1,000 farming households, Citizen reports.

Located in Sirikwa, in Soy Constituency, the project aims to reduce farmers’ dependence on rainfall by providing a more reliable water supply. According to Kenya’s National Irrigation Authority, rehabilitation work began in June 2025 and is largely complete. The remaining farmer connections and the installation of a fence around the dam are due to be completed by the end of November 2026.
