Five cases of mpox have been confirmed in Saint Petersburg among patients who have been hospitalised since 16 October, the press service of Botkin Hospital, where they are being treated, said. Their condition is stable and their illness is assessed as mild to moderate.

An epidemiological investigation was launched after their admission to identify people who had been in contact with them. Measures have also been put in place to limit the spread of the infection. Russia’s federal agency Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that the country had sufficient stocks.
