Ricardo Gustavo, the first accused in Namibia’s Fishrot fraud, corruption and racketeering case, and Namgomar Pesca Namibia are asking the High Court to order the state to provide details of the charges against them, according to a document filed by their lawyer, Ileni Gebhardt.
The request concerns, among other things, the acts that would constitute racketeering, the identity of those responsible and when the alleged corruption conspiracy was formed. Gustavo and the company are also seeking details of the alleged bribes they paid, their recipients and the statements said to constitute fraud.
The Prosecutor-General’s Office responded in August that the information was already set out in the indictment and could be found in the case file or in a forensic report tracing financial flows. It later said the charges sufficiently set out its case and refused to provide further details, The Namibian reported.
Judge Eileen Rakow postponed the hearing on the request until 11 November. Gustavo, who says he obtained legal representation through legal aid at the end of December 2025, says his lawyer sought the details from the Prosecutor-General’s Office in June 2026 and again after receiving its response in August.
