Desmet Hospital of Kisangani, in the Makiso commune, has been temporarily closed for 21 days after Ebola virus disease cases were confirmed. The measure also affects a nursery school in Kisangani, as part of health restrictions linked to the outbreak, according to the source published on 29 September 2026.

Desmet Hospital of Kisangani (DHKis), a health facility in the Makiso commune of Kisangani, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, has been closed for 21 days because of Ebola virus disease. The announcement was made on Tuesday 29 September by Simon Bokongo, the provincial health minister, in an interview with ACTUALITE.CD.

Nearly ten hospital staff members have tested positive for Ebola, according to Simon Bokongo. They include Dr Victor Kingombe, who died on 24 September at the Ebola treatment centre in Kisangani, in Meteo. The provincial minister said the hospital had become an epicentre of virus transmission.
