Djibouti’s National Public Procurement Commission has opened the second edition of its symposium on modernising public procurement in Dikhil. Proceedings are due to take place in Dikhil, Ali-Sabieh and As Eyla, aiming to bring reform closer to local stakeholders and improve public spending efficiency, La Nation reports.
Djibouti’s National Public Procurement Commission (CNMP) opened the second edition of its symposium on modernising public procurement in Dikhil on Wednesday 21 October, under the theme “For innovative public procurement”. The ceremony was held under the patronage of acting Prime Minister Ali Hassan Bahdon, La Nation reported.
Following the first edition, held in Tadjourah in 2025, this year’s proceedings are also due to take place in Ali-Sabieh and As Eyla. Delegations from Benin, Cameroon, the Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic are attending the symposium, alongside Djiboutian government officials, parliamentarians and regional authorities.
The Secretary-General of the Government, Almis Mohamed Abdillahi, chairs the CNMP. The Minister Delegate for Decentralisation, Omar Houssein Omar, and the president of the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce, Youssouf Moussa Dawaleh, were among the participants. The acting Prime Minister presented public procurement as an economic and social lever, La Nation reported.
The symposium continues Djibouti’s efforts to widen small and medium-sized enterprises’ access to public contracts. On 21 October, the country set out this aim in an article on opening public contracts to SMEs.
