The National Consultation Framework for Change (CNCC) is maintaining its 25 October information meeting at Atikoumé Square in Tsévié, despite a letter from the mayor of Zio 1 saying the site was unavailable. The movement disputes this justification and says it notified the authorities as required by the law on demonstrations, Icilomé reports.

The National Consultation Framework for Change (CNCC), a Togolese political grouping, is maintaining its information meeting on Sunday 25 October at 2 p.m. at Atikoumé Square in Tsévié. The organisers dispute the unavailability of the site reported by the mayor of Zio 1, according to Icilomé.

In a letter dated 19 October, the mayor, Dr Atatsi Ayawo, said that the square was unavailable and suggested postponing the gathering. The CNCC says it had completed the formalities required by law by informing the minister responsible for territorial administration or, failing that, the prefect. Its leaders maintain that prior notification to the town hall is not required and see the letter as an attempt to prevent the meeting.

The gathering is to be held under the slogan “No to the permanent coup, yes to the restoration of C92”.
