Citizens’ Alliance supports Gambian President Adama Barrow’s re-election bid in the 5 December 2026 election, citing progress in infrastructure, healthcare and energy. The party will launch a national tour to mobilise voters, its leader Ismaila Ceesay announced, according to Gambiana.

Gambian party Citizens’ Alliance (CA) is backing President Adama Barrow’s bid for re-election, a few weeks ahead of the presidential election on 5 December 2026. Its leader, Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting, announced the backing at a press conference.

Ismaila Ceesay defended the government’s record in the areas of roads, healthcare, energy, water supply, security and governance. He called on voters to renew Barrow’s mandate, presenting the election as a choice between continuing progress and a return to the past.

The party plans a national mobilisation and voter engagement tour from 26 October to 6 November. It will begin in the West Coast Region. Ceesay said CA officials would listen to communities and respond to what he described as opposition disinformation.

The minister also cited two government communication initiatives: Maskunda, which organises meetings between ministers and citizens every two weeks, and Minister on the Airwaves, broadcast every Wednesday on eight radio stations. According to him, these programmes allow the public to question ministers about government policies and programmes.
