Armed men attacked a home in Antsahamasina, in the Ambohidrapeto neighbourhood near Itaosy, during the night of 21 October, shooting the 26-year-old son of the owner in the leg. A police officer was also injured by shards of glass when the security forces returned fire, reports L’Express Madagascar.

The attackers were still inside the house when the police and gendarmerie arrived, a few minutes after the alert. One of them, positioned outside behind an electricity pole, fired twice at the security forces’ vehicle; one bullet struck its windscreen, according to L’Express Madagascar.

The criminals fled into the darkness with money. The pursuit continued until morning, but searches by the security forces had not enabled them to find the attackers, reports L’Express Madagascar.
