Angola’s Institute for the Management of State Assets and Holdings has reduced arrears linked to privatised assets under the PROPRIV programme by 177.59 billion kwanzas, bringing the debt down from 196.45 billion to 18.86 billion. The figures, recorded at the end of September 2026, are in a statement published by the institute, reports Mercado.

Angola reduced arrears linked to privatised public assets by 177.59 billion kwanzas, from 196.45 billion in July 2026 to 18.86 billion at the end of September, a drop of 90.4%, according to a statement by the Institute for the Management of State Assets and Holdings (IGAPE), published on 19 October.

Contracts concluded under the Privatisation Programme (PROPRIV) are worth around 1.79 trillion kwanzas. As at 30 September, payments that had fallen due totalled nearly 1.32 trillion kwanzas, of which around 1.3 trillion had already been paid by buyers. The outstanding balance to be regularised is equivalent to 1.43% of payments due.

IGAPE attributes the reduction to recovery and regularisation measures tailored to each buyer. The strategy was approved by the PROPRIV National Interministerial Commission and aims to ensure compliance with contracts concluded with private investors.
