Aldiouma Sow accuses Sonko of blocking budget for personal reasons

Senegalese ministerial adviser Aldiouma Sow accuses Ousmane Sonko of seeking to block the 2026 supplementary finance bill for personal reasons. He says rejection could complicate salary payments and lead to job losses, consequences he cites to defend his opposition to the Pastef leader’s position, according to Senego.

Aldiouma Sow, a ministerial adviser to Senegal’s presidency and member of Kiiraay – Les Patriotes Républicains, accused Ousmane Sonko of seeking to prevent the 2026 supplementary finance bill from being adopted as it stands for personal interests. He made the criticism in a statement titled “The guru’s mask has finally fallen”, reported by Senego.

According to Aldiouma Sow, manoeuvres have been under way since June to delay the submission of the budget bill to the National Assembly. He described the announced refusal by Ousmane Sonko, leader of the Pastef party, as a decision contrary to the public interest.
