More than 80 young people from different regions of Morocco are taking part in a national bootcamp on artificial intelligence, launched in Casablanca on Monday 19 October, MAP reports. Held until 24 October under the name “Hack4Bladi”, the event is organised by the Casablanca-Settat Regional Directorate of the Youth Department and the National Institute of Innovation and Advanced Technologies (INITA).
Participants are to design AI-based digital solutions to address social issues. Regional Youth Director Rochdi Erroueiti told MAP that the initiative is aimed in particular at difficulties faced by young people. Mohamed Reda Bouayad, head of the Youth Programmes Division, described the bootcamp as a way to help young people move from being users to producers of digital services.
The training also covers AI ethics, personal data protection and responsible use of technology. The organisers plan to present 16 prototypes to a panel of experts, followed by awards for the best projects. They also hope to establish a national network of young innovators so that projects can continue to develop after the bootcamp.
