The Front for the Defence of Workers has confirmed a national march on 20 October, followed by a 72-hour general strike, despite the moratorium proposed by Prime Minister Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô. The Front for the Defence of Workers (FSDT) is maintaining its national march on 20 October in Senegal, followed by a 72-hour general strike. Leaders of the trade union grouping confirmed this action plan on Friday 16 October during a general meeting at the headquarters of the National Confederation of Senegalese Workers in Keur Madia, Senenews reports.

The decision comes after a meeting between the unions and the government, which had proposed a three-month moratorium to ease the dispute. The National Confederation of Employers of Senegal has called for dialogue to be preserved, but considers the results of the National Pact insufficient, according to Senenews.
