Russian security services have arrested a 35-year-old Swede in the Pskov region, near Latvia and Belarus, accusing him of preparing acts of sabotage and drone attacks for Ukraine. According to the FSB, the man, who says he was trained by Ukraine’s Aidar battalion, has been charged with illegally crossing the border and could face terrorism-related charges.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has announced the arrest of a 35-year-old Swedish man accused of entering Russia illegally and preparing sabotage on behalf of Ukraine, the Daily Maverick reports. He could also face terrorism-related charges.

In a video released by the FSB, the detainee, who identifies himself as Freddy Lindholm from Stockholm, says he came to Russia to carry out attacks using FPV drones. He says he signed a contract with the Ukrainian army’s Aidar battalion in Ternopil and then underwent training. Sweden’s foreign ministry said it was aware of reports of the detention but was not involved in the case. Ukraine did not immediately respond, according to the Daily Maverick.
