RCD/K-ML rejects Kabila's politico-military movement

Antipas Mbusa Nyamwisi's RCD/K-ML rejects the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation launched by Joseph Kabila, saying it could worsen insecurity in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In a statement published in Kinshasa, the party called for inclusive dialogue and reaffirmed its opposition to armed struggle.

The Congolese Rally for Democracy/Kisangani-Liberation Movement (RCD/K-ML), a political party led by Antipas Mbusa Nyamwisi, rejects the creation of the Front for the Refoundation of the Nation (FRN), a politico-military movement initiated by former Democratic Republic of the Congo president Joseph Kabila. The party believes the initiative risks worsening insecurity in the east of the country, according to a statement published in Kinshasa on 14 October 2026 and reported by Beto.

The RCD/K-ML considers the move “inopportune” as people in the east of the DRC continue to suffer the consequences of conflicts. The party also believes it could jeopardise ongoing peace efforts.
