Rangers asks CAF for closed-door match against MC Alger

Nigerian club Rangers International has asked the Confederation of African Football to hold the second leg against MC Alger without spectators, after damage allegedly caused by Algerian supporters in Abeokuta. The club says it has submitted photographs and videos and is calling for an investigation; CAF has not yet made a decision, The Athletic NG reports.

Rangers International has asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the return leg against MC Alger to be played behind closed doors. The Nigerian club petitioned the governing body on Monday 19 October, after beating the Algerian club 2-0 in Abeokuta the previous day, according to Beninwebtv.

In a complaint signed by its managing director, Amobi Ezeaku, Rangers says Algerian supporters forced open a gate at MKO Abiola Stadium, bypassed ticket checks and damaged seats. The club says it has sent photographs to CAF, which has yet to rule on its request, Beninwebtv reports.
