Nigeria’s women’s football team beat Comoros 2-0 and are now one win away from the third round of African qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic tournament. The Nigerian team are playing both matches at home in Ikenne-Remo because Comoros has no approved stadium, ThisDay reports.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons beat Comoros 2-0 on Friday in the African qualifiers for the women’s football tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Defender Michelle Alozie and forward Uchenna Kanu scored the two goals, giving Nigeria an advantage ahead of the second match between the teams, ThisDay reports.

Nigeria, ten-time African champions, must still get through this round to reach the third of five qualifying rounds. Comoros does not have a stadium approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host international matches, allowing Nigeria to play both games at home at the Remo Stars Stadium. The Super Falcons are seeking a second consecutive Olympic appearance after the Paris 2024 Games, their first appearance in the tournament in 16 years.
