The Kremlin says exchanges with Ukraine are continuing over a possible energy truce, without new progress, according to its spokesman Dmitry Peskov. Moscow says it favours lasting peace and insists that its diesel supply agreement with the United States does not affect its position, La Presse reports.

The Kremlin said that contacts between Moscow and Kyiv were continuing over a possible truce on energy strikes, with no new progress, Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press briefing on Wednesday. The date of the remarks was not specified in La Presse’s report.

Dmitry Peskov reiterated that Russia was seeking lasting peace rather than a temporary truce. He also said there was no direct link between the discussions and a recent agreement reached by Moscow with Washington. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had carried out overnight strikes on Ukrainian military production, logistics and transport sites in Kyiv and the Mykolaiv region.
