Israel restricts crews from countries without diplomatic ties

Israel is barring pilots and crew members from countries without formal diplomatic relations with it, a measure that could affect at least 10 African countries. The restrictions, also applied to dual nationals, concern up to 31 countries according to Air France and 29 according to United Airlines, reports the Times of Israel.
Israel has imposed new entry restrictions on foreign pilots and crew members from countries that do not maintain diplomatic relations with the Israeli state. The measure could affect at least 10 African countries and force several international airlines to review their operating procedures and personnel management, reports Opais.
The restrictions follow an incident last month aboard a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. An Omani co-pilot allegedly assaulted the captain and attempted to take control of the aircraft. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu subsequently ordered a review of civil aviation security procedures.
