Iran denies encouraging Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Iran denies encouraging attacks by Yemen’s Houthis against Saudi Arabia after an accusation by a Saudi official. Tehran says Yemeni forces are acting in their own interests, while Riyadh reports new interceptions of missiles and drones, Punch reports.

Iran denied on Friday any involvement in attacks carried out by Yemen’s Houthis against Saudi Arabia, after Riyadh accused it of encouraging the movement’s recent escalation, Punch reports.

Since the Yemeni civil war resumed in July, the Houthis have targeted oil tankers in the Red Sea, oil facilities and Riyadh’s international airport, where 13 people were killed. The Saudi-led coalition also says that a Houthi attack targeted Abha International Airport on 7 October, according to Punch.
