Google is rolling out a personalised version of its Gemini assistant in cars, able to draw on data from services such as Gmail, Calendar, YouTube and Maps. The launch begins on Android Auto and is due to expand to vehicles with Google built in over the coming months, with drivers’ prior consent, according to Google, cited by TechCrunch.
Google is rolling out its Gemini assistant with the Personal Intelligence feature in cars equipped with Android Auto. It can use data from connected Google services, including Gmail, Calendar, YouTube and Maps. The company said the rollout began on Tuesday 20 October.
Drivers will have to activate the feature to allow Gemini to draw on this information. For example, the assistant could alert someone travelling to the airport that their flight is delayed and answer questions about the boarding gate and flight time. Users can choose which apps to connect and turn the feature off at any time, according to Google.
The rollout will extend in the coming months to vehicles with Google software and services built in, under the Google Built-in brand. Google launched Gemini in Android Auto in November 2025. The Personal Intelligence feature was rolled out in the United States in March and is in beta in international markets.
