Fifteen men were arrested on Wednesday 14 October 2026 in Ghana's Ashanti Region for their alleged involvement in illegal sand winning that is disrupting construction of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway. The operation, conducted in the Sewua-Donyina-Appiadu enclave by the region's security services on the basis of intelligence, aimed to protect the strategic project, Starrfm reports.

Authorities also seized six vehicles, including trucks and a loader, during the operation.
