Equatorial Guinea has begun distributing school furniture in the districts of Mongomo and Micomeseng, in its Continental Region, public media outlet Realequatorialguinea reports. The first delivery includes just over 100 chairs and 70 tables for schools including Meka Onvang and Ebasua, as well as the Casa Cuna orphanage.

The furniture is being made at the ABC carpentry workshop in Mongomo, where 1,200 chairs and 600 tables are ready for distribution. The programme also includes furniture for teachers and blackboards for classrooms.

The Deputy Minister for School and Sports Infrastructure, Constantino Obiang Esono Ayingono, authorised the start of distribution after visiting the workshop over the weekend. Officials say the next deliveries will go to other districts in the Continental Region, prioritising the least well-equipped schools. Furniture for nursery pupils is to be adapted to their age, comfort and safety.
