The Research Laboratory in Information and Communication Sciences (LARSICOM) presented its main achievements after four years of activity in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its president, Professor Pierre N’Sana, highlighted the Congolese Journalism Meetings, launched in May 2023 and held again in May 2025, according to Actualité.cd.

The Research Laboratory in Information and Communication Sciences (LARSICOM) presented four years of work at a press conference held on Tuesday 20 October in Kinshasa. Its president, Professor Pierre N’Sana, a lecturer at the University of Information and Communication Sciences (UNISIC), outlined the laboratory’s main achievements, Actualité.cd reports.

LARSICOM organised the Congolese Journalism Meetings with support from MILRDC. The first edition, in May 2023, focused on journalism in the age of multiple screens; the second, in May 2025, examined the relationship between journalism and artificial intelligence. The laboratory also launched the “Martelaxis”, quarterly meetings devoted to information and communication issues.

It has also set up internal scientific meetings to discuss methods and theoretical approaches, examine research and explore publications. Pierre N’Sana advocated closer ties between researchers, media professionals and decision-makers, saying that research detached from professional realities risks becoming abstract.

The laboratory was launched on 20 October 2022 at the Wallonia-Brussels Centre in Kinshasa. Its conference on 20 October 2026 therefore marked four years since its establishment.
