Contract teachers in Conakry are boycotting classes to demand the implementation of the agreement signed on 3 January 2026, which provides for their integration into the civil service through a practical classroom examination. Their coordinator, Lathis Ibrahim Salim, accuses the education inter-union of abandoning their case, while that of 4,535 unsuccessful municipal contract teachers is being resolved, reports Mosaiqueguinee.
Contract teachers in the special zone of Conakry are boycotting classes to demand their integration into the civil service. Their general coordinator, Lathis Ibrahim Salim, criticised the way their case was handled by the Education Inter-Union on Wednesday 14 October, after a sit-in outside the Ministry of the Civil Service failed, reports Mosaiqueguinee.
The protesters accuse representatives of the FSPE, SLECG and SNE of failing to respect the agreement reached with the government. A substantial security deployment had been stationed around the ministry, prompting the teachers to withdraw to the Labour Exchange, according to Mosaiqueguinee.
