Lawyers for Algassimou Diallo have suspended their participation in his trial before Guinea’s Supreme Court after their request to disqualify three judges and then their application for release were rejected. They challenge the fairness of the proceedings and the presence of the public prosecutor during deliberations on the disqualification request, Mosaiqueguinee reports.

Lawyers for Algassimou Diallo suspended their participation in his trial on Thursday 15 October 2026 before the joint chambers of Guinea’s Supreme Court. They are challenging a procedure they consider contrary to the requirements of a fair trial, after their request to disqualify judges Ibrahima Sory I Tounkara, Hadja Fatou Bangoura and Yaya Boiro was rejected, Mosaiqueguinee reports.

The defence then requested the annulment of the committal order and the release of Algassimou Diallo, arguing that his rights had been violated. Attorney General Sidy Souleymane N’Diaye deemed the release request ineffective, before the Supreme Court also rejected it, according to Mosaiqueguinee. Algassimou Diallo’s defence then suspended the hearing.
